                                      Poisonous Animals

  • Several groups of animals have member who protect themselves by producing poison, or venom. Among the invertebrate animals jellyfishes all have some poison  sacs in their tentacles.Many of them are too to harm  man,but some are dangerous. Two box jellyfishes, Chiropsalmus and Chironex,both of which live in Indian and Pacific oceans, round Australia, are extremely venomous 
  • Any one stung by either of these can die within three minutes 
  • Several arthropods are venomous, particularly the Centipedes and Spider. 
  • The American Black Window Spider, Lactrodectus mactans, is probably the most venomous.

  • Many of the amphibians are poisonous, even the Natter jack Toad oozes venom from its skin.
  • The arrow poison frogs, Phyllobayes, are the most venomous, producing the most deadly know poison, btrachotoxin, from their skin.
  • There are so-called because the Indian of Centerl and South America smear this venom  on their tips, causing paralysis to short animal.
