• eagles are large broad-winged bird of prey. In the popular imagination they are  strong,fierce bird with a high degree of hunting skill. They live in remote,wild country , and have a romantic aura about   them. Nor are ornithologists, amateur and professional alike, immune to their mystique:eagles are special and simply seeing one is a major excitement and pleasure. However,there is a different but equally strong reaction from many shepherds, peasant farmers and gamekeepers who regard eagles as pets-killers  of lambs, poultury or game - to be killed in turn by fair means or foul.
